Steamboat Springs High School student Kai Rogers attempts to right his cardboard craft during the Cardboard Classic Boat Race at Old Town Hot Springs on Friday. Steamboat Springs High School students attempted to cross the pool in crafts they designed using the principles taught in Eric Nilsson’s physics class. The winning team was judged on boat design, creative use of materials, overall theme, costumes, enthusiasm and showmanship and fastest time. This year’s winning team included Max Scrimgeour, Lance Ostrom, Luke Farney and Jamey Swiggart. The second place team, which had the fastest time, was made up of Jeremy Doerr, Christian Poirot, Max Lambek and Eric Samuelson.
