Grace Ileen Stees Cox

August 14, 1914 - June 1, 2007

Longtime Steamboat Springs resident Grace Ileen Stees Cox passed away June 1, 2007, in Casper, Wyo. She was 92.
Grace was born Aug. 14, 1914, to William and Margaret Cullen Stees in Steamboat Springs. She spent her childhood in Steamboat attending school here.
She married Bernard Schubring on July 10, 1939. Bernard was killed in action May 24, 1944, during World War II at Anizo Beach Head in Italy.
She later married Howard Cox on Jan. 15, 1946. They spent most of their married life in Casper, Wyo., where Grace worked for the Natrona County Assessor's Office.
After their retirement, they spent winters in Mesa, Ariz., and summers in Casper, Wyo. They enjoyed traveling on their Gold Wing and vacationing in their motor home. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Maggie Stees; her first husband, Bernard Schubring; two brothers, Jack and Vernon; and two great-nephews, Doug Kuhlmann and Anton Ouellette.
She is survived by her husband, Howard Cox of Casper, Wyo.; sister, Thelma Horton of Longmont; brother, Mike Stees of Colorado Springs; sister-in-law, Charlene Stees of Steamboat Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
