1 dead after car crash in South Routt County

— A car accident in the southern part of Routt County killed one person Thursday evening, according to the Routt County Sheriff’s Office.

The one-vehicle crash near mile marker 28 on Colorado Highway 131 south of Toponas was reported at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, and Yampa Fire Protection District firefighters responded.

Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Mark Mackey said one person died in the crash, and another was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The Colorado State Patrol was investigating the crash. The genders and names of the people involved in the crash were not available as of press time.
