The annual Hayden Christmas Tree Auction is at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Routt County Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. The auction will feature decorated wreaths, trees and centerpieces created by local youth groups and service organizations, including the Girl Scouts, various school groups, 4-H groups, Love Inc. and the Routt County CattleWomen. CMC professors to discuss fall development activities
Colorado Mountain College associate professor of visual arts/humanities Cynthia Zyzda and associate professor of sustainability studies Tina Evans will give presentations at noon Nov. 29 at CMC about their professional development activities during the fall semester. Zyzda will discuss a Botanical Illustration in Pencil course she took from the Denver Botanic Gardens, and Evans will present on the workshops she attended at the conference of Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. Volunteers are needed for Salvation Army bell-ringing
The holiday Salvation Army Kettle Campaign begins the day after Thanksgiving and runs through Christmas Eve. The Salvation Army again is looking for local volunteer bell ringers to take part in the community effort. Volunteers are needed for a one-hour commitment. Ninety percent of the funds raised by the bell-ringing campaign stay in Routt County and help people through LIFT-UP of Routt County’s programs. Haven Assisted Living to host Holiday Craft Fair
The Haven Assisted Living Center will host the Holiday Craft Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 15. There are 21 booths available for vendors at $30 per booth, $10 for electricity and tables available to rent. All proceeds from booth rentals will support senior programs at the Haven. Get involved in Spare the Air anti-idling campaign
Community educators, businesses and residents are encouraged to get involved with the Spare the Air anti-idling education campaign. The goal of the program is to encourage drivers to turn off idling vehicles after 30 seconds unless traffic safety demands otherwise, according to a news release. Educators are provided with support materials, and Spare the Air signs are available for $11. Motor vehicle donations help fund Habitat homes
Routt County Habitat for Humanity is reminding residents that motor vehicle donations help fund new Habitat homes through the Cars for Homes program. Motor vehicles — including cars, trucks, boats, RVs, etc. — can be donated by calling 1-877-277-4344 or by going to www.carsforhomes.org. The cars then are sold at auction or to recyclers or salvage yards, and the funds are used to build Habitat homes in partnership with low-income families.
Integrated Community seeks volunteers to teach English
Integrated Community is looking for volunteers to teach English. The in-home tutoring program trains and matches volunteers with limited English-speaking community members.
