6:45 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of a person who found a handgun on a trail near Mountain Vista Circle. Police retrieved the gun.

9:04 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a backpack found in the 700 block of Lithia Springs Road.

9:43 a.m. Officers were called to a report of a man who had been sleeping in his car in the 600 block of Marketplace Plaza. Officers were going to contact the man and issue him a trespassing warning.

1:57 p.m. Routt County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a report of a suspicious person at a school in the 27200 block of Brandon Circle. A man was seen going to the school and trying to open two locked doors. The man then drove away. Deputies contacted the man, and he reported that he thought his election polling location was at the school.

2:27 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a person who was threatened in Steamboat Springs. Police said two men exchanged words about political stickers on cars.

4:14 p.m. Officer were called to a report of a cellphone found on Maple Street. It was returned to its owner.

4:48 p.m. Officers were called to a report of identity theft and credit card fraud in the 1300 block of Dream Island Plaza.

6:15 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a person who was bitten by a dog on Manitou Avenue.

8:17 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a man in the 500 block of Marketplace Plaza who was going up to people and asking for money and gas. The man left before officers arrived.

9:01 p.m. Deputies were called to a report of a noise complaint in Steamboat II.

11:32 p.m. Officers contacted a man who was disoriented and confused in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue. The man told officers he was looking for his backpack. The backpack was found a block away, and officers found drug paraphernalia and suspected heroin. The 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful use of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.
