Steamboat grad Comeau to receive master’s degree

Steamboat Springs High School 2005 graduate Catherine Kelsey Comeau will receive her master’s degree in International Relations from the University of San Diego on May 26. Kelsey also is a 2009 graduate of Colorado State University. Her future plans include working for the State Department.

Steamboat Fire Protection District seeking applicants

The Steamboat Springs Area Fire Protection District is seeking applicants for a vacancy on its board of directors. Qualified applicants must be registered to vote in Colorado and have been a resident of the district for at least 30 days, or own taxable real or personal property within the district.

The board holds regular meetings at 4:30 p.m. on the third Monday of every month. This position requires a person who is committed to working for the community and who is willing to spend their time and energy to make the Steamboat Springs Area Fire Protection District a community where government works.

Registration is open for city Mini-Sprouts program

Registration is now open for the city of Steamboat Springs’ Mini-Sprouts program, a part-time licensed outdoor preschool program offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 19 through Aug. 9. Tuesdays offer swim lessons at Old Town Hot Springs, Wednesdays offer story-time at the library and Thursdays offer Nature Rangers at the Yampa River Botanic Park. Sign up for the entire session or individual days. The cost is $20 per day or $140 for the swim classes, $95 for the library story-times and $110 for the Nature Rangers. Sisters in Steamboat event is in need of some speakers

The fourth annual Sisters in Steamboat weekend from Oct. 12 to 14 is in need of speakers. Event organizers are looking for dynamic and interesting speakers to host interactive talks, workshops and activities to ensure local and visiting sisters have a wonderful time.
