Howelsen Hill year-round ski jump project started

— The project to construct the HS45 year-round ski jump is under way at Howelsen Hill, according to a news release. City officials anticipate the project will be finished before winter. When completed, the jump will allow intermediate-level youths to practice jumping in summer as well as winter.

The project is being funded by grants from Great Outdoors Colorado, the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, Rotary Club, the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. recreation fund, Colorado Group Realty Foundation, Gates Family Foundation and the Kettering Family Foundation as well as matching city funds and private donations.

During construction, the trails at Howelsen will be open for hiking and biking, but users will need to use alternate routes in some cases. For more information about the project, call Howelsen Hill Facilities Supervisor Craig Robinson at 970-879-4300, ext 334.
