Steamboat Springs The Steamboat girls soccer team won its final game in dominating fashion, 3-0, against Palisade, and it might have been an awfully good thing for the Sailors that it did.
Steamboat was one of the final teams in the playoff bracket, announced Sunday. Seeded 29th, it is set to play at No. 4 Broomfield on Tuesday.
Broomfield, 11-3-1, has played well all season and particularly through the past month, going 5-0-1 in its last six regular-season games. Broomfield mixed a 0-0 draw with Silver Creek into that stretch and lost to Fossil Ridge, 4-0, to drop its record to 7-2 before kicking it off.
Steamboat, meanwhile, finished the season with only the momentum generated in that regular-season finale. It lost back-to-back games, falling to Glenwood Springs, seeded 12th, and Battle Mountain, seeded 20th, before rallying against Palisade, seeded 26th.
Steamboat and Broomfield don’t share any common opponents.
