Steamboat baseball falls in final outing Saturday

Tyler Brown pitches his last game for Steamboat Springs High School.

— Steamboat lost both ends of a Saturday doubleheader at Palisade on Saturday, falling 15-5 and 9-2.

“Palisade is an awesome team,” coach Jeff Walton said. “We were really proud of our guys. From where they came from at the beginning of the season to now, everyone improved a lot.”

Steamboat finished the season 9-10 overall and 5-7 in the league and missed the playoffs. Still, Walton said there’s plenty to be excited about looking forward.

“We lost both games, but we had a great time,” he said. “We’ve got a very talented team coming back and we’re excited. The guys have come a long way, and we’re looking forward to an even better season next year.”
