Steamboat lacrosse dominates Durango, 19-1

— With where the Steamboat Springs High School boys lacrosse team is, games like Friday’s aren’t unusual.

Steamboat dominated every aspect of the game in Grand Junction, beating Durango, 19-1.

“We’re clearly ahead of them,” Steamboat coach Bob Hiester said. “We played pretty well. It’s hard to play a team that isn’t the caliber of Rock Canyon.”

On Tuesday, Steamboat lost 10-9 to Rock Canyon in overtime. Rock Canyon is ranked No. 9 in Colorado according to http://www.laxpower.com

On Friday, Steamboat had 13 players score and got assists on 14 of the goals.

Steamboat (2-1) continues play at 11 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Springs.

“We have to play our game and not play down to anyone’s level,” Hiester said.
