— Steamboat Springs Police Department Detective Jerry Stabile will be the department’s new captain, according to a post Thursday evening on the city’s Facebook page.

Stabile replaces Joel Rae, who was promoted to chief last month after JD Hays retired.

Stabile, who joined the department in 1990, will oversee the department’s patrol division.

The city conducted interviews Wednesday for the captain position. The other applicants were Sgt. Rich Brown and Detective Dave Kleiber.
