Why can’t a School Board member take a leave of absence for two meetings without the request becoming front-page news? Are we such a big city that our School Board must seek legal counsel for a short absence? Are we such a small town that a board member’s personal business becomes front-page news? The facts presented by the Steamboat Today are that a School Board member requested a leave of absence to handle a personal matter involving his children. The rest of the article was an invasion of privacy. The Steamboat Today should hold itself to a higher standard of reporting and should be embarrassed by its decision to run the article in the form it appeared.
