Steamboat ski pass options still available

Matt Stensland

— The official start of fall is six days away, snow has begun dusting the mountaintops in Colorado and the countdown to the start of ski season at Steamboat Ski Area reads 66 days.

Summer operations are winding down, and the gondola’s last day running is Sept. 25. Ski area spokeswoman Loryn Kasten said preparations are under way for the upcoming ski season.

Preseason prices on season passes are no longer available, but there are several options available for people who plan to spend the season in Steamboat but don’t want to commit to a full pass. The season pass for adults is at the regular season price of $1,239.

In an effort to lure skiers and riders from the Front Range, the ski area has partnered with Winter Park on a four-day pass. For $229, people get two days at Steamboat Ski Area and two days at Winter Park. A $519 lodging deal can be combined with the pass for two nights at Winter Park’s Fraser Crossing & Founders Pointe and two nights at The Steamboat Grand in Steamboat.

The number of 4by40 passes available is limited, Kasten said, and the price could change.

The 4by40 Pass can not be used Dec. 27 to 31.

The six-day PURE pass is no longer available, but the 15-day pass still is an option and can be purchased for $919. Additional days can be added to the pass throughout the season for $39.
