Hayden senior Stephanie Blake has been named the Optimist "Teen of the Month."

Blake, 17, has maintained a 3.8 GPA while being involved in National Honor Society, Community Action Network, El Pomar Youth in Community Service, volleyball and basketball.

Blake was named to the National Honor Society of High School Scholars in 2005-06, which recognizes academic achievers across the country, and the Colorado Rural Health Scholars, which was a month-long program for 20 students that provided information about health careers.

Blake also is involved in her church youth group.

In her free time, Blake enjoys snowboarding, camping, fishing, horseback riding, swimming, water skiing and reading. She has worked at Curbside Laundry, the Food Mill Restaurant and the West Routt Library.

Blake would like to becoming a traveling registered nurse, so she can practice nursing around the world.
