Get ready for Teen Battle of the Bands on May 20
The third annual Teen Battle of the Bands is May 20 at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel. Tony Counts, aka "Kat in tha Hat," will emcee the battle. Prizes for the winning band include a professionally recorded demo produced by Kurt Wipperfurth of Big Idiot Productions; airtime on KFMU; a weeknight performance at Mahogany Ridge Brewery & Grill; a feature article in Four Points, the weekly entertainment supplement to the Steamboat Today; and a trophy created by industrial arts students at Steamboat Springs High School.
The city of Steamboat Springs Teen Programs, the Steamboat Pilot & Today and KFMU are sponsoring the alcohol- and drug-free event. To register your band, call Brooke Lightner at 879-4300, ext. 355, or e-mail email@example.com. The deadline to register is May 5.
All band members must be between ages 13 and 19. At least one member of the band must live in Routt or Moffat counties.

Council chooses members for city manager search
The Steamboat Springs City Council recently selected members for the citizen City Manager Search Committee. The community members are Bobbi Hodge, John Chapman, Arianthe Stettner, Tami Havener, Jill Leary and Doug Marsh. The committee will interview the six to eight city manager finalists April 20 and 21. The committee will rank the finalists and make recommendations to the City Council.
Haymaker golf season passes at preseason rates
Haymaker Golf Course season passes are on sale at preseason rates beginning Monday and ending May 1. Passes can be purchased at the Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services office, 245 Howelsen Parkway. First-time pass holders must take a driver's license, property tax certificate or voter registration information to prove county residency. Call Susie at 879-4300, ext. 301.
Steamboat Springs needs residents to volunteer
The city of Steamboat Springs is looking for residents to serve on the following boards, committees and commissions: Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, Historic Preservation Advisory Commission, Yampa Valley Regional Airport Commission, Ice Rink Advisory Committee, Board of Adjustment and Public Art Board.
