Lifesaver train departs from art center today

The Operation Lifesaver Train and Safety booth will depart from the Depot Art Center at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. today. The 1 1/2 hour train rides will allow passengers to see what an engineer sees from the cab of a locomotive. Train officials will be on hand to answer questions.

Operation Lifesaver is a national public education organization dedicated to eliminating deaths and injuries at highway railroad crossings. For more information, call Steve Jankowski at (719) 963-2111.

University president hosts 'An Evening with CU'

University of Colorado President Hank Brown and CU Regent Peter Steinhauer will host "An Evening with CU in Steamboat Springs" from 5:30 to 8 p.m. June 16 at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort.

The community event, intended for alumni and CU-interested people, will begin with the CU Alumni Association's popular CU trivia games and giveaways.

Brown will talk about news related to the University of Colorado and listen to attendees' thoughts and comments about the university.
