Registration begins for CMC weight-lifting classes

Registration for Colorado Mountain College's spring semester aerobic and weight-lifting classes is this week.

An assortment of days, times and classes are offered for all ability levels. The cost is $41 for those who live in the district. Call 870-4444 or 870-7942.

Orders for Girl Scout cookies being accepted

Girl Scout cookies are for sale, and proceeds benefit the Girl Scouts. Residents can place orders by contacting any Girl Scout or by calling Shauna at 870-6073. Cookies will be delivered between Feb. 14 and Feb. 29.

Fly Fishers to meet at

Ore House for presentation

The Yampa Valley Fly Fishers will meet today at Ore House at the Pine Grove. The meeting begins with dinner at 5:30 p.m. Steve Hooveler and Sarah Riddle from Blue Ribbon Flies will present "Saltwater fishing in Belize" at 7 p.m.

Danceworks has openings for 2- through 8-year-olds

There are openings in Children's Danceworks Winter Session of creative dance classes for 2- through 8-year-olds. Classes start this week and run through Feb. 20. All classes are at Northwest Ballet Studio, 326 Oak Street. Call Wendy Smith Mikelsons at 736-1005.

LEAP accepts applications through end of April

The Routt County Department of Human Services Low-income Energy Assistance Program will accept applications through April 30. LEAP helps low-income households meet winter home heating costs; it does not pay the entire cost of home heating. The maximum monthly income for a one-person household is $1,384; for four people it is $2,837. For more on LEAP eligibility requirements, call 879-1540.

Free yoga for children

is available Wednesdays

Free Yoga for Kids class is available. There are three classes, each from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The classes are Wednesdays beginning this Wednesday and continuing Jan. 21 and Jan. 28. The classes are in the Steamboat Springs Middle School upper gym. Call 879-2083 to register.

Routt County Humane Society seeks volunteers

The Routt County Humane Society is looking for volunteers to help at the Steamboat Springs Animal Shelter. The animal shelter also needs donations of Science Diet or Iams canned cat food. Call 879-RCHS.

Oak Creek wants your used ice skates

The town of Oak Creek is looking for donations of used ice skates of any size to allow more people to try skating at the Oak Creek ice rink. In Steamboat Springs, skates can be dropped off at the Safeway customer service desk. In Oak Creek, skates can be dropped off at town hall. Call 736-8563.

ESL classes begin today

6 p.m. at CMC

Colorado Mountain College's English as a Second Language classes begin today. Classes are offered from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays, starting Wednesday. Register in class in Willett Hall, rooms 300 and 314. Speakers of all languages and ability levels are welcome. Call Jenny at 870-4534.

Kaleidoscope registration for kids is under way

Registration is under way for the Kaleidoscope Art Exploration for Kids after-school art workshop, to be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Jan. 20-22 at the Depot. The program is open to children ages 6-12. Students will write their own poetry, illustrate and bind the book on hand-made paper. Call the Steamboat Springs Arts Council for more information 879-9008.
