Drama department needs props for performances

The Steamboat Springs High School drama department needs props and costumes for their current and future productions. The school will put on "The Sound of Music" in November and needs period clothing and shoes, black graduation gowns, prom dresses, rosaries, costume jewelry and wigs. Anyone who has these items and would like to donate them can call 870-6233 or 879-7193.

LIFT-UP fall coat drive drop-off under way

LIFT-UP of Routt County and Steamboat Cleaners are sponsoring a fall coat drive. Gently used winter coats can be dropped off through Friday at City Market, Safeway or Steamboat Laundromat next to Curve Market. The coats will be cleaned and distributed to people in need the first week of November. Call 870-0727.

Strawberry Park holding book fair next week

Strawberry Park Elementary will hold a book fair from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday to Nov. 7 in the school library. Books for preschool through adult readers are available. Call 871-3490.

9News Health Fair returns to Steamboat on Nov. 18

The annual 9News Health Fair, sponsored by 9News and the Lowell Whiteman School, will return to Steamboat Springs Nov. 18. Professionals in fields ranging from psychology to dentistry to massage therapy will be giving 10-minute presentations throughout the day, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the school. Call 879-1350.

Horseback riding lessons for children offered

Beginning English horseback riding lessons for children will be offered from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturdays through Nov. 22, at the indoor arena at the Routt County Fairgrounds, sponsored by the Hayden Recreation Department. Helmets will be provided and the lessons should prepare children to join Pony Club. The cost is $86 per child, with scholarships and multiple-child discounts available. To register, call instructor Becky Thayer at 824-0311. An informational meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the fairgrounds.

Former smokers, chewers asked to help others

Former smokers or tobacco chewers who quit successfully at least one year ago are asked to help with Grand Futures Great American SmokeOut events. People who remember the difficulties of quitting and would like to inspire other to do the same are asked to call Grand Futures at 879-6188 by Friday.
