Traffic lights out Friday due to electrical problems

Traffic lights at two intersections in downtown Steamboat Springs were out for about 20 minutes Friday because of an electrical problem.

The lights at the intersections of Lincoln Avenue and Fifth and Seventh streets went out shortly after lunch hour Friday.

Yampa Valley Electric Association determined the lights were out because of an electrical problem and promptly fixed it, said Steamboat Springs police Sgt. Joel Rae.

Colorado Ski Country USA CEO to talk Wednesday

Rob Perlman, president and CEO of Colorado Ski Country USA, will talk about "The Outlook for Skiing in Colorado" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Chart House. Perlman's talk will take place during the 96th annual meeting and luncheon of the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association. The cost is $25 per person. Reservations can be made by calling 879-0880., Ext. 201.

Opera to perform Sunday in Steamboat

The Central City Opera Company's "Opera in the Rockies" tour will present an afternoon of scenes from "Tales of Hoffman"; "The Student Prince"; "The Juggler of Notre Dame"; "The Elixir of Love"; and "Vanessa" at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. The company is performing in Steamboat Springs through the joint sponsorship of Emerald City Opera and the performing arts division of the Colorado Mountain College-Alpine Campus. Tickets are on sale at the Depot Art Center or will be available at the door for $10. All proceeds benefit Emerald City Opera.

Registration under way for children's dance classes

A six-week creative dance class offered by Children's Danceworks for children ages 2 through 8 begins Oct. 28. Most classes will be held at Northwest Ballet Studio, 326 Oak St. Call 736-1005.
