Yampa water, sewer rates likely to increase

Yampa residents likely will see an increase to base water and sewer rates beginning next January.

The rates are expected to go up to $23 for each, compared with the $17.50 for water and $18 for sewer that residents have been paying since 1999, Town Clerk Janet Ray said.

The months that 5,000 gallons of water are allowed at the base rate versus 15,000 gallons also is likely to change.

Most of the changes are because of increases in operational costs, Ray said. There will be an explanation of what the additional dollars will fund by the end of this month.

'A Taste of Fashion' is Sunday at the Grand

The Yampa Valley BPW will host "A Taste of Fashion" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday in the Spring Creek Room of the Steamboat Grand Hotel. The event is planned in recognition of the 75th National Business Women's Week, and to raise funds for the Yampa Valley Community Foundation Scholarship Fund. Admission is $15 at the door.
