Mary Ruth Dapper

Former Steamboat Springs resident Mary Ruth Dapper died Jan. 29, 2003, at the Doak Walker Care Center. She was 90.

Ruth was born April 12, 1912, in Albion, R.I., to parents John and Loretta Robertson. She married Robert Dapper in Central Falls, R.I., on April 14, 1941. The couple made their home in Cumberland, R.I., where they had two children.

Ruth studied the arts and ballet most of her life, and she ran The Ruth Dapper School of Dance. She moved to Steamboat in 1981 to be closer to her family.

Ruth was one of the original residents of the Doak Walker Care Center.

She loved the arts and ballet, the outdoors and the beauty of Steamboat. One of her favorite activities was going for Thursday afternoon rides on the Doak Walker bus.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a daughter, Joyce.

She is survived by her son, Robert Dapper; her daughter-in-law, Leslie; and two grandchildren, Cameron and Robbie, all of Steamboat.

Memorial donations may be made to the Doak Walker Care Center in care of the Yampa Valley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 776090, Steamboat Springs, 80477.
