Steamboat Springs When I read Scott Stanford's piece about his first winter in Steamboat, I had to check to make sure he was really the new editor of the paper.
I have been a retail manager for the past six years in Steamboat's downtown shopping district. During that time, our store and most stores around us have spent thousands of dollars advertising in his newspaper, so it was with great interest I read how he loaded up the truck and drove to Silverthorne.
"We bought hats, sweaters, coats, boots, gloves and thermal underwear."
Because he wrote this without a flicker of embarrassment, it's clear that Scott Stanford still doesn't get it. If he browsed through his own newspaper, he would notice page after page of paid local advertisement for hats, gloves, coats, sweaters, etc.
If he takes local checks, he should write a few, too.
