Steamboat Springs Another day of moguls at Mount Werner and another dual between two Steamboat Springs skiers.
Winter Sports Club skier Jordan Chiovarelli grabbed the top spot in the men's championship moguls Friday afternoon at the Rocky Mountain Division's Regional Championships. He topped teammate Chris Pusey and out-of-town skier Orion Helms in the final standings of the 40-plus skier field.
Chiovarelli, who won the junior moguls Thursday, also topped the championship event with a score of 26.48. Pusey was second at 26.35 and Helms scored 26.34 to place third.
Other top local skiers included Kyle Ewing in sixth, Scott Voss in 11th, Jarrett Arguelles in 15th and Logan Belz in 16th.
Luke Belz placed 20th, Colin Shinabarker was 21st, Luke Vincent was 25th, Nick Bucci came in 29th, Broc Sheue was 33rd, Euan Stobie was 37th and Charlie MacArthur was 38th.
Jill MacKenzie Norman of Winter Park won the women's event with a score of 25.07. Cheryl Pearson of Breckenridge was second and Andrea Barry of Winter Park was third. Barry trained in Steamboat Springs for several years.
The top local finisher was Gina Gmeiner in fourth, and her sister Carly Gmeiner came in fifth.
Steamboat's Maryann Skraba was eighth and Lauren Crawford was ninth. Twenty women competed in the championship moguls Friday.
The regional championships will come to a close today with the dual mogul event. Skiing will start at 10 a.m. at the Park Smalley Freestyle Complex at the Steamboat Ski Area.
