Rollover accident injures two

— A woman and her dog were injured Sunday on County Road 129 in a rollover accident.

Rebecca Herz of North Routt lost control of her black Honda SR-V at about 1:50 p.m. while driving northbound on C.R. 129 near Steamboat Springs Airport.

Steamboat Spring Police Officer Matt Harmon said a witness said Herz's Honda weaved to the right side of the road, causing the front and back passenger-side tires to go off the road.

"We are not sure why and she doesn't remember why," he said.

Herz attempted to correct the mistake but lost control of the Honda, Harmon said. The vehicle swerved on the road, went into the passenger-side ditch and rolled end to end once.

Herz was wearing her seat belt and was conscious when Harmon arrived.

"The seat belt saved her," he said.

She was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center.

Herz's dog was traveling with her and was seriously injured after being ejected from the vehicle, Harmon said. The dog was a long-haired dachshund and was taken to the Pet Kare Clinic in Steamboat Springs. Harmon said there is a good chance the dog would have to be put to sleep.
