Kakela and Honebein

Anne S. Kakela and Fredric H. Honebein, together with their parents Wayne and Linda Kakela of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and Carlton and Helen Honebein of Auburn, California, are pleased to announce their engagement to marry on June 21, 2001 at the Kakela home in Strawberry Park near Steamboat Springs.

The couple met while training and competing internationally on the United States Rowing Team. Both won World Championships and competed in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Ms. Kakela grew up in Steamboat Springs and graduated from the Lowell Whiteman School in 1988 and from Dartmouth College in 1992. She earned a Master of Science degree in telecommunications from the University of Colorado in 1998 and is employed as a Sales Engineer for Nokia Internet Communications in Seattle.

Mr. Honebein is the Freshman Rowing Coach for the University of Washington in Seattle. He grew up in Tiburon, California, graduating from Redwood High School in Larkspur, California and from the University of California at Berkeley in 1991.

They plan to vacation in Eastern Europe and return to make their home in Seattle.
