Marion Idzahl died Feb. 25, 2001, in Steamboat Springs surrounded by her children. She was 83.

Marion was born in 1917 on Staten Island, N.Y., and was the seventh of nine children.

She married Ivar Idzahl, a sea captain for Mobile Oil.

In 1952 they moved to Great Kills, N.Y., then to Lincroft, N.J., and then to Vincentown, N.J. Up until 2000, she was retired at Peter Cooper Village in Long Branch, N.J. In October 2000, Marion moved to Steamboat.

Marion owned the Palace Beauty Salon in Port Richmond, N.Y., in the 1940s and worked for various hairdressers until her retirement.

She is survived by a daughter, Diane Leech of Manhattan; a son, Thorman Idzahl of Steamboat Springs; a sister, Suzy Ming of Vermont; a brother, Vincent Immitt of Westerleigh; two sisters, Frances McQuillan of Staten Island and Sara Marino of New Jersey; four grandsons, Damien, Marcus, Bryon and Emmett; two granddaughters, Alexis and Ashley; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Moon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivar, in 1979; and a son, Bryon, in 1970.

Cremation will be in Colorado and a Mass will be celebrated March 14 at St. Ann Church on Staten Island. Interment will be in the Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island.
